For the 22nd Annual Glen Grant Memorial Ghost Tour.
Next week will make 22 years since we’ve said goodbye to our beloved professor and friend, Glen Grant.
Glen Grant was the Father of Ghost Tours in Hawai‘i. A Professor at the University of Hawai‘i, he had a keen interest in local ghost stories, and began leading people on walks through Honolulu, sharing its haunted history. Later came bus tours and a series of books called “Obake” and “Chicken Skin.” As many friends and fans may remember, Glen’s bus tours used to last up to 5 hours!
Glen was an amazing researcher and storyteller. When I worked with him, Glen wouldn’t allow me to take notes or write a script. His instructions were to “listen and learn.” Everything I learned from him was mouth-to-ear, much like the teachings of my mother and my aunty.
I think of Glen often and I am eternally grateful for his knowledge and this path that he helped set me on when I first worked on his Wai‘anae ghost tour. It is in Glen’s honor that we host this annual tour, and we hope you’re able to join us.
